Big news at The Rose! 

We are thrilled to announce that Maria Wyckoff Boyce is stepping into the role of Board Chair for The Rose, a triple-negative breast cancer survivor and passionate advocate for health equity. A retired attorney and native Houstonian, she proudly has served on the board for three years and is excited to step into the Board Chair role and remains active in breast cancer advocacy.

We are also honored to introduce the newest members of our Board of Directors! These incredible women bring decades of expertise in healthcare, finance, oncology, and community advocacy to our mission:

  • Irene Helsinger: a respected healthcare executive and board leader with decades of experience driving strategic growth, organizational transformation, and leadership development. She has held executive roles at St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System and Newport LLC and currently serves on the boards of several Houston-area nonprofit and community organizations.
  • Cindy de Moya, CPA: a retired healthcare finance executive with more than 40 years of leadership experience. Formerly Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Accounting Officer at Memorial Hermann Health System, she has built a distinguished career in financial strategy, governance, and community service. 
  • Arlene Nazario, MD: a retired Medical Oncologist and Clinical Professor at MD Anderson Cancer Center who dedicated 24 years to advancing cancer care, medical education, and clinical research, with a focus on serving underserved communities.
  • Ellen Elam: a business leader, nonprofit advocate, and dedicated breast cancer champion whose leadership and volunteer service have made a lasting impact across Houston’s cancer community.

Its mission is to save lives through quality breast health services, advocacy and access to care for all. As one of 12 ACR Designated Comprehensive Breast Imaging Centers in Houston, The Rose is led by Fellowship trained physicians and its nationally recognized Patient Navigation Program ensures access to treatment and a continuum of care for all women. As a major part of Southeast Texas’ Healthcare Safety Net, The Rose is a strong advocate for access to care. Annually, The Rose provides direct medical services to 40,000 insured and uninsured patients. Two Houston-based comprehensive Diagnostic Centers and a fleet of Mobile Mammography Coaches provide services to women throughout 45 counties in Southeast Texas.
