This Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), Houston’s leading nonprofit breast health organization urges women to schedule the screening that could save their life.
HOUSTON, TX, September 28, 2026. This October, The Rose, Southeast Texas’s leading nonprofit breast health organization, is reminding women that early detection saves lives, and it starts with scheduling a mammogram.
Last year alone, nearly 100 women who came to The Rose for their very first mammogram were diagnosed with breast cancer, catching the disease before it became a bigger fight. It’s the kind of outcome The Rose wants every woman to have access to, and one reason the organization is pushing this October to move women from “I know I should” to “I scheduled it.”
That message is for every woman, including those who have insurance and may not realize the impact of choosing The Rose. “When women with insurance choose The Rose for their annual screening, they’re not only taking an important step for their own health; they’re also helping us provide care for women who may have no other options. That’s the promise of The Rose,” said Angie Lane, Chief Executive Officer. In the last year, The Rose provided direct medical care to more than 8,500 uninsured patients, made possible in part by the community of insured women who chose to screen at The Rose.
For women near the Galleria, convenience can be a deciding factor. The Rose’s Galleria location, centrally located at 6575 West Loop South in Bellaire, makes it possible to book a mammogram near work, near lunch, or near the mall, fitting a potentially life-saving screening into a day women already have planned.
“Early detection saves lives, but only if women actually get screened,” Lane said. “This October, we’re asking every woman in Houston 40 and up to take that step, whether it’s her first mammogram or one she’s been putting off. And for women who are uninsured or worried about the cost, we want them to know The Rose is here for them.”
Founded in 1986, The Rose has provided breast health services to more than one million patients regardless of their ability to pay, operating two Houston-area Diagnostic Centers, including its centrally located Galleria location, an East Texas Mobile Mammography Center, and the state’s largest Mobile Mammography fleet, reaching women across 45 counties in Southeast Texas.
