Groceries or a Mammogram

Feed the family or have a mammogram?

In today's economy, the average weekly cost of groceries for a family of four is roughly the same as the price of a mammogram. Hard to believe, but true.

Most of us will never know what it is like to ask for the cash price of a routine medical exam and then have to decide between groceries for the family or our health. But for one in four people in the Greater Houston Area who do not have insurance, this isn’t a choice. Their family will be fed.

This month, we ask you to walk down that grocery aisle with this woman, step into her shoes and know you need a mammogram but have to ask: my family's needs or mine? She may live in your neighborhood or on the other side of town, but it’s a choice she has to make almost daily.

Your gift means she doesn’t have to choose.
