The Rose Raises More Than $176,000 During 35th Annual Shrimp Boil with 80’s Themed Extravaganza

PASADENA, TX – The Rose a leading non-profit breast health organization in Southeast Texas, is thrilled to announce the success of its 35th Annual Shrimp Boil fundraiser, held on Saturday, June 22 at the Pasadena Convention Center. More than 600 attendees gathered for the event presented by the Bill and Helen Crowder Foundation in honor of Bob Domec. Celebrated with a vibrant 80s theme as a throwback to 1986 when The Rose was founded, the Shrimp Boil has a rich history, originating in 1989 when dedicated supporters Marsha and Jim Anderson organized a fundraiser to benefit The Rose. This beloved tradition has become one of Pasadena’s longest-running fundraisers, significantly impacting the lives of those seeking care at The Rose.

The fundraiser was a resounding success, with more than 600 delicious meals served and more than $176,000 raised benefiting the Houston-based breast health organization. The atmosphere was electric as participants engaged in a live auction, a 115-item silent auction, a liquor toss, and an 80s costume contest. The generosity of all who participated was truly incredible, resulting in a remarkable fundraiser.

This year’s live auction was record-breaking with $40,175 raised for The Rose. The highest bid live auction item was a rose-gold chameleon custom tele guitar donated by Russel Eckhart in memory of his mother. The custom guitar sold for $7,500 and will play a vital role in The Rose’s mission to provide quality breast healthcare services to uninsured patients, ensuring access to care regardless of their ability to pay.

A fresh feast awaited attendees, with 1,000 pounds of shrimp cooked to perfection, complemented by an array of sides prepared by Mark Meeker and The Rose Cooking Team. The cooking team’s dedication and support have made the Shrimp Boil a truly memorable event.

Generous sponsors of the event included: Bill and Helen Crowder Foundation, Hoesel Memorial Golf Tournament, Dr. Yasmeen Qureshi, Oates Industries, The Blast Bag, H-E-B, The Phelps Family, b1Bank, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston Methodist and Celanese.
