A bone density test measures bone mass and it is accurate, painless, and noninvasive.

Annual bone density screenings are recommended for women over 50. This simple 10-minute test will determine bone loss. Both men and women are at risk for osteoporosis. A bone density test detects even the smallest amount of bone loss from osteopenia to osteoporosis, and determines risk for future fracture. Since osteoporosis development can be undetected for decades—until a fracture occurs—early diagnosis is important.
