Pasadena, TX—The Rose, Southeast Texas’ leading nonprofit breast health organization, proudly announces the success of its 36th Annual Shrimp Boil, which raised more than $170,000 to provide life-saving breast health services to women, regardless of their ability to pay.

Held on Saturday, June 21 at the Pasadena Convention Center, this year’s Shrimp Boil embraced a lively “Boots & Bling” theme that brought out the sequins, cowboy boots, and Texas-sized generosity. The event was presented by the Bill and Helen Crowder Foundation in honor of longtime supporter Bob Domec and drew a sold-out crowd of over 550 guests.

The Shrimp Boil coincided with National Cancer Survivors Month, making the celebration especially meaningful as survivors and supporters stood side by side to raise funds to help even more women access important breast healthcare. Guests enjoyed line dancing, games, and a joyful survivor group photo as each survivor donned a pink bandana as a symbol of strength and hope.

“Whether you’re a survivor, a supporter, or just love shrimp and good company—everyone at Shrimp Boil makes an impact,” said Dorothy Gibbons, Co-Founder and CEO of The Rose. “This event is about celebrating life, lifting each other up, and making sure no woman faces breast cancer alone.”

The evening included:

  • Over 1,000 pounds of shrimp served, prepared by Mark Meeker and The Rose Cooking Team

  • An entertaining costume contest, line dancing, and mechanical bull photo op

  • A $500 H-E-B gift card surprise for one lucky attendee

  • Roller derby-style raffle sellers and 50/50 drawings

  • A photobooth, dessert station, and plenty of boots-on-the-dance floor moments

The live auction, led by state champion auctioneer Bear Hebert, raised over $40,000 with standout items including a sailing excursion aboard a luxury yacht, an acoustic guitar signed by Willie Nelson, and a private hunting experience. The silent auction featured more than 100 items ranging from local art to getaways.

Sponsors that made the event possible included:

The Bill and Helen Crowder Foundation, Hoesel Memorial Golf Tournament, Southfork CDJR, Nan Buchanan SHAKLEE, H-E-B, b1Bank, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Oates Industries, BlastBag, Groundworks Houston, Casa Ole Deer Park and Pearland, Houston Methodist and The Shim Shop.
