HOUSTON, TX – The Rose is excited to announce the selection of Shannon Wiesedeppe as President of its Board of Directors. Shannon is Assistant Vice President of Training & Instructional Design at SitusAMC and is a longtime supporter of The Rose, joining the Board in 2018.
“Women’s healthcare is a particularly challenging space, where inequity and disparity are alarmingly evident,” said Shannon. “However, The Rose is changing that for women in Southeast Texas. Removing barriers to breast care is saving lives in our community and with new services such as Breast MRI, The Rose is even better equipped to help detect cancer early and expertly navigate patients into treatment.”
Shannon’s nonprofit board service includes Kids’ Meals, The Junior League of Houston, Inc., where she served as President; The Junior League of Houston Foundation; Child Builders, and the Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center Volunteer Advisory Board.
Additionally, The Rose is thrilled to announce Elise Neal as Member of the Board. Elise’s passion for breast health stems from her family’s personal experience with metastatic breast cancer and her firm conviction that everyone is entitled to access high quality healthcare.
“Mammograms are an essential screening tool for breast cancer; sadly, many women are denied this critical service due to lack of insurance or lack of a primary care physician,” Elise said. “The Rose is leveling the playing field when it comes to breast health, making quality care available to all women regardless of ability to pay, and they’ve done so for almost 40 years. As a Member of the Board, I look forward to helping women prioritize their care.”
Elise previously served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel at Academy Sports + Outdoors and Trial Associate at Baker Botts. She currently volunteers as a Member of the Data and Safety Monitoring Board at MD Anderson Cancer Center and as the Steering Committee Secretary, and Boot Walk team co-captain, for the Advanced Breast Cancer Program also at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
“Making breast care accessible to all women in our community is our mission,” said Dorothy Gibbons, CEO and Co-Founder of The Rose. “That’s why it is so important that The Rose’s Board is comprised of, and led by, community-driven advocates. Both women are exemplary, and I am confident that Shannon, in her new leadership role, and Elise, as our newest member, will be true champions for women’s breast health.”
