Houston, TX [August 21, 2019] – A new grant from The George Foundation ensures that 850 sponsored breast healthcare services will be available to uninsured women in Fort Bend County through The Rose.
The $55,000 gift covers screenings, diagnostic care, and access to breast cancer treatment for qualifying uninsured individuals who reside in the county. An estimated 360 patients should benefit from the services, made available through The Rose’s Mobile Coach events and two Diagnostic Breast Centers in Southeast Houston and the Galleria area.
“The George Foundation has a long history of meeting community needs, beginning with founders Albert and Mamie George,” noted Dorothy Gibbons, CEO, and Co-Founder of The Rose. “With an estimated 13 percent of Fort Bend County residents below age 65 who are uninsured, access to breast healthcare is a critical need. We appreciate the Foundation for their support.”
Since 2017, past grants have made it possible for The Rose to serve 674 patients in the county with 3D mammography services. To learn more about eligibility, call The Rose’s mobile team at 281.464.5136.
