Jump For The Rose

Houston, TX, August 24, 2015 – Jump for The Rose, an annual skydiving event and fundraiser benefitingThe Rose will take place September 12-13 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm atSkydive Spaceland(1611 Farm to Market 521, Rosharon, Texas 77583). The sixth annual event will feature two days of skydiving, canopy coaching, a magic show and other adventurous outdoor activities, as skydivers aim to raise funds to provide access to breast health care to all women in need.

The discovery of a lump in her breast became the first step in Marian Sparks journey to creating Jump For The Rose. With no medical insurance, she turned toThe Rose, a non profit organization dedicated to helping women survive cancer. The Rose offered Sparks a patient navigator to help guide her through treatment and finding a way to cover the cost of her successful surgery. To date, Jump For The Rose has raised over $85,000 to be used towards The Rose’s annual programming.

“Jump For The Rose combines two things I am blessed to have in my life: Skydiving and The Rose. It’s my opportunity to give back to an organization that gave me support and guidance during my time of need,” said Marian Sparks, founder of Jump For The Rose. “Our skydiving jumps take only a fraction of the courage women who are dealing with breast cancer have.”

During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to skydive, meet the author of Silent Voyage,Charl de Villiers, a skydiver and the first deaf man to solo sail around the world, bid on silent auction items, play with bumper balls and enter a raffle to win an American Beauty .22 caliber rifle donated by Trinity Bay Tactical. Last year’s event set a new world record for the largest vertical skydiving formation performed in a head-up orientation by four female skydivers. This year, Skydivers Over Sixty (SOS) will attempt to break their record.
