The Rose Named 2024 Non-Profit of the Year by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce

HOUSTON, TX (February 29, 2024) – The Rose was recently named the 2024 Non-Profit of the Year by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. The Rose was selected for its excellence and continued commitment to providing high quality breast healthcare to all women and men, regardless of their ability to pay for services. As a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, The Rose is led by Fellowship trained physicians and offers advanced digital technology including 3-D tomosynthesis mammography, diagnostic workups, biopsies and its nationally recognized Patient Navigation Program ensures access to breast cancer treatment and a continuum of care for all women. The Rose’s flagship health center serves approximately 4,500 patients from the greater Pasadena area annually and has long been an engaged nonprofit within the community, hosting the annual Shrimp Boil fundraiser in Pasadena for 35 years.

“Pasadena holds a unique and treasured place in The Rose’s history. It’s where Dr. Dixie Melillo and I were inspired to create this one of a kind organization,” said Dorothy Gibbons, CEO and co-founder of The Rose. “Pasadena is a community that continues to support us today, it’s Dr. Melillo’s home, and it is where many of our wonderful and dedicated board members are from as well. We never could have made it if we hadn’t had Pasadena behind us every step of the way. Recognition from the Chamber as Non-profit of the Year is especially significant to Dr. Melillo and me. Thank you, Pasadena, for your support for nearly forty years.”

Each year, the Pasadena Chamber honors one Chamber member non-profit organization or church that intentionally invests time and resources in our community and Chamber.  Past recipients of this award meet to review nominations and were proud to select The Rose, who actively demonstrates the action required to create awareness around the needs of others and takes steps to meet those needs through education, connection and service.

The Rose will receive formal recognition during the Annual Membership Luncheon on April 18, 2024.
