May 2026 marked the 10th anniversary of the Hats and Henna High Tea fundraising event for The Rose. Organized by two-time cancer survivor Ashma Khanani-Moosa, the event raised $60,000 to help uninsured women in our communities access life-saving breast health services and navigation into treatment. More than $300,000 has been raised for The Rose by the Tea over the last decade.
This year’s Tea featured a Women’s Empowerment Marketplace, where guests supported local women-owned shops and enjoyed an assortment of teas, sandwiches, and treats.
Dorothy Gibbons, Co-Founder and recently retired CEO of The Rose, was honored for dedicating the past forty years of her life to advocating for women’s breast health and championing access to care for all.
Hats and Henna High Tea Chair, Sami Khaleeq, FRSA, CHTI – Commissioner, City of Houston Planning and Development and Guest Speaker, Dr. Abdul R. Moosa, physician, educator, and humanitarian made this year’s event especially successful.
The 2026 Tea was made possible in part by the support of Omega RCM Solutions, Dr. Yasmeen Qureshi, HEB, and Rahma Worldwide.
