Houston, TX, July 20, 2015 – On August 4, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., The Rose will host an intimate event to kick-off the online auction of the “Pink Pads,” a set of pink shoulder pads signed by the Houston Texans, exclusively for The Rose. This campaign presents an opportunity for The Rose supporters to own the pink shoulder pads while helping save lives. The event will be held at their Galleria location (5420 West Loop South, Suite 3300).
Last year alone, The Rose provided quality breast health care to more than 36,000 people, of whom 8,888 were uninsured women. Operating since 1986, The Rose is the first breast cancer organization based on insured women, covering the cost of those that are uninsured.
“We are thrilled about this opportunity to present a one-of-a-kind gift to supporters of both The Rose and the Houston Texans,” said CEO and Co-Founder of The Rose, Dorothy Gibbons. “But I’m even more excited about the potential to provide more access to care for all and save hundreds of lives over the next year with the funds raised from the pink shoulder pads.” This generous, one-of-a-kind gift donated by Douglas Pads & Sports, Inc. is the very first pair of Pink Pads signed by JJ Watt and many other 2014 Texans. The staff at Douglas Pads each has their own personal story of a loved one who has battled with breast cancer, and in recent years one of their salesmen (Kevin Bull) lost his girlfriend to the disease. They share in a mission to help raise awareness and help care for the women in their lives.
“We appreciate what The Rose is doing for Houston women, and any way that we can help, we will,” said Ryan Huntsman, COO of Douglas Pads & Sports.
