THE WOODLANDS – The Memorial Hermann In the Pink of Health fundraiser last fall not only broke attendance records, the monies raised are helping The Rose climb to record-breaking outreach numbers as well.
In accepting the check for $35,000 – a 40% increase in support from the previous year’s donation – Trina Hans, Grants and Compliance Manager for The Rose, shared that the now three-year investment from Memorial Hermann In the Pink of Health has helped increase the number of uninsured mobile screenings in Montgomery County by 284%. Nearly 400 uninsured patients were seen at 40 mobile screening locations last year.
The Rose, one of Houston’s leading breast imaging centers, is committed to reducing deaths from breast cancer by providing screening, diagnostics and access to treatment to all women regardless of their ability to pay. The $80,000 in total gifts from the three years of fundraising efforts helps to ensure the availability of screening and diagnostic procedures for uninsured Montgomery County women.
Addressing the 25 committee members in attendance during the formal check presentation at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital, Hans noted that of the 651 uninsured Montgomery County women seen at The Rose’s two facilities or via the mobile units, 63 were referred for follow-up care and nine women were diagnosed with breast cancer. One mobile unit patient’s cancer was found at its earliest stage and The Rose’s Patient Navigators were able to provide her access to timely treatment.
“With more than a quarter of the adult population in the county without insurance, our partnership with the Memorial Hermann In the Pink of Health organization is making a life-saving difference in the overall health of the community,” said Hans. “We are grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside you.”
