HUMBLE –With a new location and opening the door to a few more dads this year, Mamma’s & Martini’s once again served up a fun evening of fundraising for The Rose. The nonprofit breast health organization was gifted with more than $6500 as the result of the poolside affair at the home of Pete and Martha Serna of Serna Insurance Agency, also a sponsor.
Jill Garza and Donna Lemoine the event organizers along with daughters Lori Welborn, and Courtney Poe made the night memorable with just the right mix of silent auction items, door prizes, music, hors d’oeuvres, and, of course, martinis. Now in its fourth year, the fundraiser focuses on building breast cancer awareness – Donna is a survivor – while providing neighbors a chance to celebrate life and give back. The more than 75 auction items included rounds of golf, Rockets tickets, interior design consultations, wine and more.
Online research brought the group to The Rose and CEO and Co-Founder Dorothy Gibbons is appreciative of the ever-growing awareness that the event brings. “When we opened the doors of The Rose almost 30 years ago, we wanted to serve our community. And community is what this event truly underscores. When I see what Jill and Donna started, what their daughters have added, and now how the Sernas are expanding the effort, I am inspired and encouraged to continue our task. This community has not only our gratitude but the thanks of the women we serve.”
