Ryan Nurse from Great.com interviewed The Rose as part of their ‘Great.com Talks With…’ podcast. This series is an antidote to negative news stories that aims to shed light on organizations and experts whose work is positively impacting the world.
Women have a 98% chance of surviving if the disease is found in the early stages. Early detection mammography screenings are the best way for women and men to detect this deadly disease. In this episode, Ryan talked with Dorothy Gibbons, CEO, and Co-founder of The Rose.
The Rose is a nonprofit organization that provides breast health care. Since 1986, we’ve served nearly 500,000 patients. Our expert staff of board-certified radiologists, technical staff, and mammography coaches service more than 40,000 patients annually. Through our Diagnostic Imaging Centers, The Rose helps many women and men with insurance issues get mammogram appointments to detect breast cancer.
Providing A Valuable Service To Uninsured People
Our organization understands the difficulties and financial hardships uninsured women and men face when undergoing breast cancer diagnostic procedures. The heavy costs can put an uninsured family member into a lot of debt. More so, the whole family suffers as a consequence.
The Rose provides free mammograms to uninsured patients through many sponsorship programs. Our medical centers are equipped with top-of-the-line equipment and personnel to help patients with screening tests, ultrasounds, and biopsies.
Our business model primarily focuses on uninsured patients, but we also welcome insured patients. The Rose services more than 7,000 uninsured women each year with free mammograms.
Through early intervention, women have a 98% survival chance. We make sure patients in need don’t wait long and the costs don’t put an uninsured family in a dire situation.
Great.com is an organization aimed at solving the world’s most dire problem — global climate change. Starting in New Jersey, their mission is to take money from an otherwise harmful and greedy industry (online casinos) and move it towards a positive and good cause (solving the climate crisis). In addition to directly donating 100% of the revenue they earn in the casino industry, they also launch and manage fundraising campaigns to persuade casino entrepreneurs to donate. So far, they’ve generated over $2 million to climate research through their own donations and proceeds from their fundraising initiatives.
