There is a scene in the on-line series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, when Susie, manager to Mrs. Maisel, sends Midge off to do her comedy routine with a special message. Susie’s words are a little too graphic to share in this venue, but their meaning is clear: “good luck,” or “you can do it” and “don’t give (or mess) up!”
However you look at it, everyone needs encouragement when going “On Stage.”
Stepping into the spotlight is not a time to give up.
The time of COVID-19 has created a whole different kind of stage for all of us. It’s meant we had to step into scary situations and be braver than ever before. These last few months have forced us to make difficult decisions, self-isolation has tested our patience, being an essential worker has tested our courage and stamina, being parents to school-aged children has tested our sanity and working remotely has tested our skills and creativity. Somedays we have had to act upbeat when everything around us was negative and sad.
The list is long, but with every challenge comes the opportunity to rise above and to NOT give up.
We’ve all had to give up so much since March 2020. Some losses can never be replaced. Others have brought much loneliness and sadness. No one has escaped this time unscathed.
COVID-19 has put us “on stage” in one way or another but we can’t give up, not now. None of us can afford to stop trying.
We can’t replace those things that we had to give up. We can focus on appreciating the people who got us through this time. We can cherish those memories that gave us hope and made us smile.
At The Rose, we are determined to keep our doors open, no matter what. We’ve made it through the worst of times, and we are going to keep on, keeping on. We are working six days a week to take care of the hundreds of women waiting on screening. Too many women depend on The Rose for their breast care. Too many uninsured women depend on us for their life!
So, for that next time you find yourself about to step on that stage—Hearts Up!
And remember, at The Rose, we won’t give up on you!
That’s a promise you can count on!
