The Rose Houston Recognized as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

Houston, TX,February 14, 2017– The Rose, the leading breast healthcare organization in Texas, was awarded the nationally recognized Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE) designation on February 14, 2017. The Rose carries the distinction of being the only freestanding non-hospital based facility to receive this award in Southeast Texas. Only 13 other facilities in Greater Houston have received this designation which is awarded by the American College of Radiology (ACR). To achieve the Center of Excellence designation means that the organization has met the highest standards of care in breast imaging.

“The Breast Imaging Center of Excellence is the gold standard and it gives our patients the additional assurance that our personnel are well qualified and our facility exceeds quality assurance and safety guidelines,” said Dorothy Gibbons, CEO and Co-Founder of The Rose.

To receive the Center of Excellence designation, organizations and centers must be fully accredited by the ACR in the following areas: Mammography, Stereotactic Breast Biopsy and Breast Ultrasound (including the Ultrasound-Guided Breast Biopsy module), as well as have access to an accredited MRI facility. Additionally, all physician and radiology technologists must meet the highest levels of certification in their areas of specialty.

“Application for this designation is voluntary and the process has required over a year to complete,” added Gibbons. “Every part of our operations and all of our 29 different pieces of equipment have been scrutinized against national standards. Our facility’s personnel qualifications, equipment requirements, quality assurance, and quality control procedures have gone through a rigorous review process and have met specific qualifications.”

The Rose takes pride in providing resources that break the barriers keeping women from making their healthcare a priority. Same day diagnosis, special programs for young women, and advanced digital technology are all services that reflect The Rose’s emphasis on quality and excellence.
