Houston, TX, February 14, 2017 – The Rose now offers the latest in breast imaging: digital breast tomosynthesis 3D mammography, adding a new level of care to its breast health services. This unique early-detection technology is another step in The Rose’s larger efforts to broaden access to care, eliminate disparities and increase the availability of quality breast cancer services to all women.
“We are proud to add 3D mammography to our screening services,” said Dorothy Gibbons, CEO and Co-Founder of The Rose. “True to our mission, we are ensuring all of the women we serve, insured and uninsured, have access to this powerful tool in the detection of early stage breast cancer. We know that breast cancer is 98 percent curable when detected early and our entire focus is saving lives.”
Gibbons added: “The Rose serves a younger population and we are excited since
3D mammography has proven especially beneficial to younger women whose breast tissue tends to be denser. This technology has the ability to narrow the focus of examination down to precise 1 millimeter sections allowing the physician greater visibility.”
After years of studies and FDA approval, 3D technology has earned its place as an indispensable tool for detecting the first signs of breast cancer. It can mean earlier detection with some studies reporting a 40% increase in cancer detection rate. Most studies also support that callbacks are reduced due to the increased level of visibility.
The Rose has long fought to place their services at the forefront of technological advances. Driven by the belief that all women, despite their ability to pay, should be able to access quality breast healthcare, The Rose strives to advance all facets of the breast healthcare process: from advanced technology to recently achieving the prestigious Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation to receiving national recognition of its patient navigation program.
